25 October is World Pasta Day, and there's no more Italian way to mark it than making pasta by hand. Spend the afternoon with chefs Gabriele Franco and Silvana Franze at La Botte D'Oro in Leichhardt: you'll make the dough together, roll it into sheets and cut it into fettuccine, while the chefs cook a simple tomato sugo in the big pan.
Then you sit down together and eat the pasta you made, in the heart of Sydney's original Little Italy. The afternoon starts with antipasto plates and a welcome glass of wine, there's Italian music throughout, and you go home with recipe cards and a small gift.
No cooking experience is needed: the class is hands-on and beginner-friendly, and the chefs guide you through every step, from the dough to the cut. Twelve places only, so it stays hands-on for everyone.
Tickets are $149 per person and are booked online through Fifth Ave Katoomba Retreat — the class is a collaboration between Fifth Ave Katoomba Retreat and La Botte D'Oro. Ticket sales close at 12 pm on Saturday 24 October. Parking is available across the road at MarketPlace, Marion St Leichhardt.
